Coach Richard is an assistant coach for MVP 18 Red. He started playing volleyball at Winston Churchill High School in 2015-2018, along with Coach Kevin Case. He had a short club stint with BRYC his junior year and then played his first full year of club with TVP 18s his senior year. In college, Coach Richard played for the University of Maryland club team. He led the team as a player/coach to a top 16 placement in Division 1 at the NCVF in 2024. He also served as a practice player for the Women’s Varsity Team at UMD. He has also played 9 man for 8 years now with MVP and CYC, making it to the top 8 twice. He plans on trying out for the DC Dynasty VLA team in early October.
Coach Richard began his coaching career in 2020 as an assistant coach at MOCO Volleyball Club. He then moved on to the head coach position from 2021-2024. Additionally, he was an assistant coach to Coach JJ in 2024 for the Churchill Boy’s team.
Coach Richard has started his own business in volleyball performance training, focusing on addressing the needs of individual athletes to reach the next level. He has close connections with MVP, having played 9 man for the club. He’s very close friends with fellow assistant coach Coach Kevin and has played under Coach JJ at Churchill. He’s also played with and against Coach Liam since high school.
