Coach Eli Umar is an assistant coach for the 14/13 Red team as well as social media coordinator and website designer for the club. He is an MVP alum, currently in his first year at University of Maryland where he is pursuing a double major in Kinesiology and Psychology, with aspirations to become a sports psychologist in the future.
Coach Eli began playing club volleyball in 2019 on MVP’s U14 team, first as an outside hitter and then transitioning over his career to starting libero for MVP 18 during the 2023-2024 season. In addition to his club career, Coach Eli played and was a captain at Thomas S. Wootton High School from 2019 to 2023, winning the county championship in his junior year. Currently, he is competing at the collegiate level for the University of Maryland club team as well as with CYC Boomin.
Coach Eli has also been involved in coaching and supporting youth volleyball development. He has helped coach clinics for Wootton High school as well as served as manager and assistant coach for the Wootton High School Varsity Girls team from 2019 to 2023, helping them achieve two state quarterfinal appearances and winning three county championships.
