Coach Amy Rivas is the assistant coach of MVP 16 Red. She began her volleyball adventure as a freshman at Walter Johnson High School playing middle and setter. She also played club for Champions of Tomorrow with Karen Jones (C.O.T). She was named MVP her sophomore year and led the team as captain for junior varsity.
Coach Amy began her coaching career with Maryland Exclusive Volleyball Club (MEVC), leading the 14-3rd team to first place in silver division at regionals. This is her second year coaching for MVP. She has also coached for Walter Johnson and Richard Montgomery High School.
Outside of coaching, Coach Amy was a reading and Spanish teacher for middle school but is now a stay at home mom. She enjoys watching her children grow and being part of their daily experiences. She also enjoys going to Pokemon conventions with her nerdy husband, Brian. As noted, she is Coach Erick Rivas’ (MVP 16’s Head Coach) little sister.
