Coach Eli Umar is an assistant coach for the 14/13 Red team, 14 Black, and 15 Black as well as social media coordinator and website designer for the club. Currently, he is in his first year at the University of Maryland where he is pursuing a double major in Kinesiology and Psychology while also working for Maryland Athletics and the Division 1 Maryland Women’s Volleyball Team.
Coach Eli is an MVP alum, playing club volleyball in 2019 on MVP’s U14 team, first as an outside hitter and then transitioning over to libero for MVP 18 Black during the 2023-2024 season. In addition to his club career, Coach Eli played and was a captain at Thomas S. Wootton High School from 2019 to 2023, winning a county state championship in his junior year. Currently, he is competing at the collegiate level for the University of Maryland Men’s club team as well as with CYC Boomin in the summer.
Coach Eli has also been involved in coaching and supporting youth volleyball development. He has helped coach clinics for Wootton High school as well as served as manager and assistant coach for the Wootton High School Varsity Girls team from 2019 to 2023, helping them achieve a state quarterfinal appearance, state semifinal appearance, and winning three county championships.
