Coach Liam Morris is the Head Coach of MVP 17 Black. He began his volleyball journey as a freshman at Walter Johnson (WJ) High School, playing libero and setter for his school and MVP 15s. By his sophomore year, Coach Liam was named team captain, transitioning to setter while playing for both Walter Johnson and TVP 18s and 16s. His high school career culminated in a senior year where he won the Montgomery County Championship, was named Player of the Year, and earned MVP honors at WJ for the second year in a row.

Coach Liam continued his volleyball career at Belmont Abbey College, playing all four years as a middle and right-side hitter. He holds blocking records at Belmont Abbey and ranked top three in all of D1 volleyball for blocks per set in both his sophomore and senior years. His senior year saw him win the conference championship and advance to the National Championship tournament, where they fell to Penn State. Coach Liam currently plays middle for the DC Dynasty VLA team.

Coach Liam began his club coaching career at The St. James in 2021, running clinics and individual lessons. He coaches the WJ Boys’ varsity, reaching the semifinals in 2021 and finals in 2022 and 2023. He also coaches the WJ JV Girls’ team with Coach Fatima and Coach Sara. Outside of volleyball, Coach Liam teaches seventh and eighth grade math. He’s an avid multi-sport athlete, enjoying basketball, soccer, and playing grass and beach volleyball. In his free time, he [over]indulges in video games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and FIFA.

Coach Liam has strong connections within the MVP community, having known Coach JJ and Coach Fatima since high school and Coaches Kevin, Richard, and Jimmy from his college days but the real platonic love of his life is Coach Alex, whom he describes as a genuine and kind-hearted person.
